As dean of the University of Washington Information School, Harry Bruce would welcome every new class of students by teaching them that "secret password" and then encouraging them to whisper it to him when they encountered him in the halls.
The iSchool owes much of its success to Harry and his 19-year tenure at the school, 11 of those years as dean. From 2006 to 2017, he presided over the school as it doubled its faculty and student body, expanded its research and broadened its influence around the world.
On his last day as dean, Harry handed over his master key. Read a proclamation by his iSchool colleagues to mark the occasion.
