Congratulations on this well deserved recognition! You have inspired many of us in the iSchool! Thank you for your dedication and service!
So hear I am, finishing up the lit review on an article I'll submit for publication in the coming month. One of the articles in this review made extensive mention of Saracevic's IR model. Based upon this, I go back and find the Saracevic article in question (which, thanks to holding on to my readings from Harry's class, I still had). Before it was all over, I had tied my work back to Saracevic, David Ellis, Carol Kuhlthau, and Peter Ingwersen. It was like taking LIS 510 all over again, 14 years later! Thank you, Harry, for doing such a good job preparing all of us to be librarians -- what you taught me very much has real world application in what I do today.
Well done Harry! One of the things I like hearing from you the most is when you say, "I appreciate you." Well I appreciate YOU. Thanks so much for your service and leadership.
Dear Harry -- many thanks for all you've contributed to the information professions and to iSchools these many years! Thank you also for your graceful leadership -- John
Well done, Harry, on a job so exceptionally well done! And thanks for inspiring my School at Charles Sturt University at a critical juncture! All the best, Philip
Harry, congrats on a great job leading the uw I-school and playing such an important role in the international I school community. It has been very good getting to know you over all these years we have both served as deans.
Congratulations Harry. I did not work with you for very long, but I will always remember your kind and gracious manner. Good luck and best wishes in all of your future endeavors.
Dear Harry, I remember clearly the first time we met at the iDeans dinner in Toronto hosted by Seamus Ross the year Northumbria University becaome an iSchool member. For me it ws a little daunting but you were such a gentleman and so welcoming. You oozed class and kindness. We haven't met often but you always say hello. I wish you all the very best for the future whatever you do. Julie
Hi Harry, I enjoyed our conversation during the banquet in China. Inside I was so giddy because I was talking to a rockstar! Hope to see you still in future iConferences.
Harry, you have served the UW I-School, your campus, and your international academic community with distinction, grace, commitment and with an inspiring sense of humanity and compassion. Thank you for year years of service. You leave the UW iSchool in great shape. Very best, Steve Miller
Dear Harry, it is a great honor for me to know you and to work with you. Thank you so much for your support to the School of Information Management, Wuhan University. You are our greatest friend and you are always welcome to visit us.
Dear Harry,
We met only four times, during the last iConferences since Berlin, but I felt your simpathy, enthusiasm and committment with iSchools since the first meeting I attended. Your attitude was always an inspiration and I'm sure we'll keep you as reference for iSchools deans.
Thanks Harry!

I owe much to you--from the time (at Mike Crandall's encouragement) I applied for the open position in the iSchool. You were chairing the search committee and let me know you would be following up, then--after I was hired and after you became dean--you asked me to serve as your associate dean for research. I was flattered but unsure. "Just for a year," you said. I replied that I'd do it, but for two years. (This turned into four years.) Your leadership as dean has made the iSchool second to none among iSchools, you have made it a great place to work, and I appreciate being encouraged to join you and participate in this wonderful journey.
Dear Harry, It was a great honor for me to meet you during the iSchool meetings. Now, we are leaving our positions at the same time. This must be a good signal! Please, enjoy where your life drives you! Eduardo.
Dearest Harry, I will always remember the first time you led me in saying "The iSchool is MY school! Wahoo!" back when I joined the iSchool as an MLIS student in 2008. Luckily enough for me, I haven't left since! You are truly the embodiment of strong and effective leadership. You've led the iSchool through many challenges, and because of your vision and your unique ability to rally us troops, we are stronger than ever. I'm truly grateful to have witnessed and learned from such remarkable, effective, kind, and thoughtful leadership - it is very rare and something the world truly needs more of. All of my best wishes are with you and Lorraine as you begin your new adventures! Thank you for all that you have done for the work home I've called home for 9 years. Melody
Dear Harry, I only got to interact with you in the iSchools for a short period of time but have gotten to appreciate your insights and vision very quickly. Thanks for your leadership and best of luck as you head toward new adventures!
Great meeting you as the new MSIM Advisory Board member. Looking forward to working together in your new endeavors.
Harry, It has been such a pleasure to be involved with the founding board as the iSchool has grown in the last few years. You have always shared plans and ideas and acted on feedback. You have so proudly shown us the projects and research of your students and strategic new appointments. Building on your vision and enthusiasm I'm sure the iSchool will remain a prime exemplar in a worldwide iSchool community.
Harry, thank you so much for your leadership, vision, and trust. I am proud to have joined the iSchool under your guidance. I wish you all the best in the future, and hope you enjoy your well-earned retirement!
